Cooper in doubt for Dragons NRL clash

St George Illawarra officials remain confident of having Matt Cooper available for Saturday night’s NRL clash with Canterbury despite the star centre sitting out the club’s final training run on Friday.

Cooper was restricted to a limited fitness session away from the main group on Friday, with the ankle injury he suffered in the closing minutes of the round-one win over Newcastle still hampering his movement.

Rookie Nathan Green trained in his place, with fellow replacement candidate Chase Stanley also failing to train on Friday.

Dragons’ officials say a final decision will not be made until game day, rating Cooper a 50-50 chance of taking on the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium.
