Boss suspended at Sandown

Glen Boss will seek a release from the Robert Smerdon-trained Saddler’s Story in Monday’s Group Two Adelaide Cup in a bid to change the dates of a suspension so he can ride at the Randwick Guineas meeting.

Outed for seven meetings on a careless riding charge at Sandown on Wednesday, Boss is currently in the mix to ride either New Zealander Ocean Park or Sydney star Manawanui in the Randwick Guineas on Saturday week if Glyn Schofield is unsuccessful in his appeal against a similar suspension.

A comparable rider must be found to replace Boss on Saddler’s Story who was runner-up to Muir in last year’s Adelaide Cup (3200m) and ran fifth to Drunken Sailor in the Roy Higgins Quality (2500m) at Flemington last Saturday.

If Boss gains the release, he will begin the suspension after Saturday’s important Flemington meeting where he has seven rides including the Smerdon-trained Lone Rock in the $1 million Newmarket Hcp (1200m).

If Boss is unable to get off Saddler’s Story the suspension will start on Monday night and encompass the Randwick Guineas meeting.

Boss was outed for careless riding aboard Buddy Amazing for causing interference to race favourite Tenno he in the Le Pine Funeral Hcp (1800m).
