Western Bulldogs player Lachie Hunter has escaped penalty and sanction after a bet was placed from his account on an AFL pre-season game.
The AFL released a statement on Wednesday night saying its investigation had found Hunter had not broken any rules because another player – in the Bulldogs’ VFL team – had used his account to place the bet.
There are no AFL Victoria rules that prohibit VFL-listed players from betting on AFL games.
The AFL said in the statement that this situation was “currently being reviewed”.
