Heat make 6-152 against Strikers in BBL

Adelaide import Kieron Pollard stole the show as the in-form Strikers restricted Brisbane to 6-152 in Sunday’s Big Bash League clash at the Gabba.

The giant West Indian produced an inspirational effort in the field to remove Heat dangerman Chris Lynn (28) as the Strikers chase a fourth win from as many starts in the domestic Twenty20 competition.

Playing in his last match before joining his international colleagues in South Africa, Pollard sprinted to snare a big hit from Lynn before quickly flicking the ball to teammate Travis Head before he stepped over the boundary.

Lynn’s dismissal left the Heat at 4-97 in the 14th over before some late hitting by Nathan Reardon and Ben Cutting lifted their total towards something defendable.

Cutting (21) was himself brilliantly caught by Kane Richardson who kept his cool to throw the ball up in the air as he threatened to fall over the rope before recovering it comfortably.

Reardon finished unbeaten on 31 but was a frustrated man after he couldn’t find the boundary in the final over, with the Heat adding just four singles from their final six balls.

Craig Simmons (2-26) and former Queenslander Ben Laughlin (2-31) led the wicket-takers for the Strikers with skipper Johan Botha (1-25) and young leg-spinner Adam Zampa (1-13) also chipping in.
