Force aiming to put Rebels on back foot

Western Force coach Michael Foley admits his side must correct their slow starts if they are to notch victory in Saturday’s Super Rugby clash with the Melbourne Rebels in Perth.

The Force have leaked early tries in their losses to the the Waratahs and Brumbies, and Foley said his team couldn’t afford a repeat effort.

“The first 20 minutes in any sporting contest tends to create momentum, both physically and mentally. For us, we haven’t had that yet,” Foley said.

“For us, it’s about getting off to that good start.

“It’s about knowing in the first 20 minutes you’re not playing on the back foot.

“The sooner we do that, then the more results are going to come our way.”
