The Gerald Ryan-trained Rubick firmed from $2.90 into $2.80 and Darley horse Earthquake shortened from $4.60 into $3 for the Group 1 Sportingbet Blue Diamond Stakes after both horses were impressive winners of their respective Sportingbet Blue Diamond Preludes at Caulfield today.

Earthquake firmed from $1.85 into $1.55 at Sportingbet in the Sportingbet Blue Diamond Prelude for fillies and landed a mountain of big wagers including bets of $100,000 and $80,000.

Rubick also firmed from $1.85 into $1.55 at Sportingbet in the Prelude for colts and geldings and landed equally large wagers, including two bets of $100,000.

“They were both brilliant and one of them will be winning in a fortnight,” Sportingbet CEO Michael Sullivan said.

“I know Rubick was driven mad early but Earthquake looked to have more up her sleeve on the line so it wouldn’t surprise me if the punters come for the filly.”
