Little-known American Madison Brengle meets world No.49 Heather Watson in the final of the Hobart International.
The 24-year-old qualifier, ranked 84, will contest her first WTA final on Saturday afternoon against the in-form Briton.
“She’s very solid, she doesn’t give you anything so I have to go out and do my best, try and be aggressive,” Brengle said of her friend and training buddy Watson.
Brengle on Friday beat Japan’s Kurumi Nara 6-4 1-6 6-3, but needed a medical break after the second set for a blister on her hand.
“I got it the other day when I was playing Karin (Knapp) because she was hitting the ball so hard and I was trying to absorb the pace and it actually tore my hand up a little bit,” she said.
Once re-taped, Brengle said the blister didn’t cause her any worry.
Watson hasn’t dropped a set on her way to the Hobart final and on Friday beat world No.42 Alison Riske 6-3 7-5.
