Tomic grabs 16th seed for Australian Open

Bernard Tomic has been seeded inside the top 16 at the Australian Open for the first time, giving him a great chance to play deep into the tournament.

The 23-year-old grabbed the No.16 seeding on the back of a semi-final appearance at the Brisbane International, meaning he won’t have to face the likes of Novak Djokovic or Roger Federer until at least the fourth round.

Other seeded Australians include Nick Kyrgios (29) and Samantha Stosur (25), who will compete for a 14th time at the Open.
