Kvitova finally wins at Stuttgart tennis

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova has thrashed American teenager Louisa Chirico 6-0 6-0 in the first round for her first victory in three years at the WTA Stuttgart event in Germany.

The fifth-seeded Kvitova stormed to the double-bagel victory in 54 minutes on Tuesday in the first meeting with Chirico, a qualifier ranked 121st.

Chiroco’s best chance to get on the scoreboard came in the 10th game where she wasted five game points, two of them with double faults and another two when Kvitova shots fell unreachable off netcords.

Kvitova saved the only break point against her in the next game and then wrapped up matters with a return winner.

The Czech had lost her first match the past two years in Stuttgart where her best showing had been a semi-final in 2012. The 26-year-old is also waiting for her first title of the year, with a place in the Indian Wells quarter-finals her top result.
