Dellacqua confirms tilt at Hobart title

Casey Dellacqua will head the Australian contingent at the Hobart International this summer.

Dellacqua, who has just completed her best year on the WTA Tour to finish in the world’s top 30, will be seeking to claim her first singles title at the event.

“Hobart is the perfect way to ensure I’m match ready for the Australian Open,” Dellacqua said.

“I always enjoy playing in Hobart and love playing for the local crowds.”

Dellacqua, who at one point this year threatened to overhaul Samantha Stosur as Australia’s highest-ranked women’s player, will be looking to improve on past results at the January event.

Having played Hobart five times, the West Australian is yet to do any better than make the quarter finals, a result she achieved in 2008 when she fell to Greece’s Eleni Daniilidou.

In 2014 she fell in the second round to America’s Alison Riske.
