QPR vs Sunderland 2014 EPL Round 3 preview, tips and teams

Today’s clash between QPR and Sunderland at Loftus Road will see Alejandro Faurlin missing this game and indeed much of the season having suffered his third anterior cruciate ligament injury in three years. Eduardo Vargas is also unavailable due to the fact that he still requires a work permit, however today’s game may see a return to action for Charlie Austin after recovering from a hamstring strain. Gus Poyet has all of his Sunderland players available and fit.

Tottenham thrashed QPR 4-0 last week at White Hart Lane, with Nedum Onuoha opining that the team “just weren’t at it, from 1 to 11”. Sunderland for their part have still to find form having yet to record a win this fledgling season. That’s not to say however, that their season has been woeful so far having picked up an away draw at West Brom as well as a decent draw at home to Manchester United.

QPR’s form is mostly indifferent, however Harry Redknapp must have been left shaking his head after being dumped unceremoniously out of the league cup by Burton Albion of league two. That 1-0 exit would probably have brought home the urgency of the looming transfer window deadline and the need to keep Loic Remy as well as move on some of the fringe players.

Expect a scrappy, hardfought affair today with both teams desperate to record a win and reap the maximum three points. Sunderland are likely to take the points today, with the final score predicted at 2-0.
