Germany’s odds continue to shorten to win Brazil World Cup 2014

Germany would’ve enjoyed watching Argentina slug it out for 120 minutes plus penalties in this morning’s World Cup semi-final, and online bookmaker sportsbet has priced them $1.67 favourites to take out the final against the South Americans who are rated a $2.30 chance.

Germany began the tournament at a generous $7.50 and have been firming ever since.

Argentina began Brazil 2014 as second favourites behind the host nation, and have come in from $5.00.

In 90 minute result betting, Germany are paying $2.40, with both Argentina and the draw priced at $3.25

“We’ve had around 50% more money placed on Germany than Argentina. Their semi final win was obviously more impressive than the Argentines so we expect the Germans to firm even further,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Christian Jantzen.

One punter is confident of German success, placing the following series of bets.

–          $1,000 on Germany (2-0) @ $10 to collect $10,000

–          $600 on Germany (3-0) @ $23 to collect $13,800

–          $200 on Germany (4-0) @$71 to collect $14,200

–          $50 on Germany (5-0) @ $276 to collect $13,800
