German Bundesliga champion Borussia Dortmund has announced revenue of 101.4 million euros ($A127.15 million) for the six months to December last year, breaking the 100 million euro ($A125.39 million) mark for the first time.

Dortmund said Friday that revenue from July 1 to Dec. 31, 2011, is up more than 30 million euros ($A37.62 million) compared to the same period in 2010.

Pretax profit rose to 16.7 million euros , up from 4.3 million euros.

Dortmund, won the Bundesliga for the first time since 2002 last season, said strict financial control coupled with sporting success helped boost the figures.

The club flirted with bankruptcy in the seasons after its previous league success.

“Borussia has developed itself economically and on a sporting level continuously over the last few years,” Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke said. “Given the current figures it’s clear that the transfer of Marco Reus does not pose any economic risk.”

Dortmund agreed in January to pay Reus’ reported 17.5 million euro buyout clause to take the 22-year-old winger from Borussia Moenchengladbach at the end of the season.

Dortmund currently leads the Bundesliga by three points ahead of Moenchengladbach, with traditional powerhouse Bayern Munich a point further back.
