Everton vs Chelsea 2014 EPL Round 3 preview, tips and teams

The main event of today is likely to be Everton versus Chelsea at Goodison Park, where an absolute glut of stars are expected to appear. Everton will be up for this having recently acquired striker Romelu Lukaku for Ł16 million as well as other marquee signing Samuel Eto’o. The latter may be a doubt for today owing to match fitness concerns.

These two names however are unlikely to worry current league favourites Chelsea who can proudly boast a massive array of attacking talent such as Oscar, Mata, the returning Drogba, Willian and of course their own marquee signing, Costa, who in a possible twist of good fortune for Everton may be unavailable for today’s game owing to a hamstring problem.

Chelsea are likely to select a 4-2-3-1 for today’s match with a back four of Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry and Azpilicueta. Everton are likely to opt for a countering 4-3-3 with a spearheaded attack of Lukaku, Naismith and Mirallas.

While Everton look good on paper, Chelsea have a pedigree team and are likely to just be too strong for them, and they are missing some key names today including Atsu, Barkley and Pienaar.

Tip: Predicted score line for today: 3-0.

Teams:

Everton (Possible, 4-3-3): Howard; Coleman, Jagielka, Distin, Baines; McCarthy, Barry, Pienaar; Lukaku, Naismith, Mirallas.

Chelsea (Possible, 4-2-3-1): Courtois; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta; Matic, Fabregas; Schürrle, Oscar, Hazard; Drogba.
