Saturday’s A-League 2016 Round 3 match is between Central Coast Mariners and Brisbane Roar. The Mariners’ deficiencies in defence were exposed by Sydney FC in a 4-0 demolition.

While the Mariners had a lot of possession in their own half, they failed to penetrate Sydney’s organised structure and were caught on the counter on many occasions.

The Mariners will need to focus on keeping a clean sheet as they have found themselves behind early in both of their games so far which has put them on the back foot needing to chase the games.

Brisbane’s defence was also lacking in their 4-0 loss to the Jets.

This result came as a bit of a shock and while it shouldn’t be cause for concern for John Aloisi just yet, he’ll certainly be hoping that was simply a one-off.

On the positive side of things, Tommy Oar (pictured above) showed his class with a sizzling long-range strike which deserved to be a goal but was parried off by Jets keeper Jack Duncan.

Oar is a key man for the Roar and they need him firing with the likes of Brett Holman and Jamie Maclaren to give their season a kick-start.

Both these teams are without a win so far this season but I think the Roar will turn things around and get the points in this one.
