Cameroon vs Brazil tips, odds, betting, preview and teams – Soccer, Football FIFA World Cup 2014

Cameroon have already been eliminated in another campaign to forget for the African heavyweights. After managing to lose all three group games at the World Cup four years ago in the midst of a reported rift between Samuel Eto’o and Alex Song, the Cameroonians have behaved even worse this time. Before the start of the tournament, the players refused to board the plane to Brazil because of a dispute over appearance fees, leading the country’s football federation to take out a private loan to award the players 12 thousand dollars more. Then in the match against Croatia, Alex Song got himself sent off for a needless elbow in the back of Croatia’s Mario Mandzukic while the game was still at 1-0. The team imploded, conceding three more goals and to make a strange match even more so, Cameroon defender Benoit Assou- Ekotto head butted teammate Benjamin Moukandjo. After all the madness, it is hard to imagine Cameroon mounting any kind of opposition to Brazil on Monday.

For Brazil, the task at hand is a straightforward one. Beat Cameroon by as many goals as possible and they’ll finish top of their group. In a tournament where Neymar and co have not really impressed –they needed a penalty to edge in front of Croatia before drawing 0-0 against Mexico- they’ll be relieved to be facing a side that has nothing left to play for. The Samba boys drew 0-0 against Mexico last time, coming up against goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa who was in the form of his life and succeeded in shutting the Brazilians out. Ochoa made six saves, giving a dangerous Mexico side the platform to build upon. Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari will want a win to confirm qualification on the occasion of Brazil’s 100th match in the World Cup.

TEAM NEWS

Cameroon coach Volke Finke will be without all- time leading scorer Samuel Eto’o for the match against Brazil as the 33- year old is still struggling with a knee injury. Barcelona midfielder Alex Song will also miss out following his red card against Croatia.

For Brazil, Luiz Felipe Scolari has said he is considering changes to his lineup following the draw against Mexico. Hulk is expected to be back in the side after missing the match against Mexico. His replacement, Chelsea midfielder Ramires failed to trouble the defense of the Mexicans and was duly hooked. Alternatively, Scolari could give his Chelsea teammate Willian or Shaktar Donetsk winger Bernard a chance in the starting XI. Upfront, Fred has done little to contribute to the cause in two matches and might be benched in favour of Jo.

Probable Lineups

Cameroon (4-3-3): Itandje; Assou-Ekotto, N’Koulou, Matip, Chedjou; M’Bia, Enoh, Moukandjo, Aboubakar, Choupo-Moting

Brazil (4-3-3): Julio Cesar; Marcelo, Luiz, Silva, Alves; Gustavo, Paulinho, Oscar; Neymar, Jo, Hulk

PREDICTION

Brazil will want to turn on the style against a Cameroon side that is down and missing their key players. Luiz Scolari will hope his boys score as many goals as possible after the goalless affair against Mexco last time out.
