Toomua and Slipper come though hitouts

Wallabies duo Matt Toomua and James Slipper have come through contact training well and are expected to be available for Saturday’s Rugby Championship decider against the All Blacks in Sydney.

Coach Michael Cheika will announce his team on Thursday and should be able to consider inside back Toomua and prop Slipper after their monitored recovery from head knocks suffered in the Wallabies’ last-start victory over Argentina in Mendoza.

“It’s been a tough few days, Cheik always likes to get into us nice and early,” said halfback Nick Phipps on Wednesday.

“We’ve been working pretty hard the last few days, especially around the physicality at the breakdown and around one-on-one tackles.”
