Three more years for Barrett at Hurricanes

Star fly-half Beauden Barrett has spurned the advances of the Blues and cashed-up northern hemisphere clubs to recommit to the Hurricanes for another three years.

The 25-year-old re-signed on Monday for the Hurricanes and hometown provincial club Taranaki, as well as the All Blacks, until the end of the 2019 season.

Barrett, who cracked New Zealand’s starting XV in this year’s Bledisloe series, has been in unplayable form throughout 2016.

He drove his Hurricanes outfit to their maiden Super Rugby title and caused havoc in the All Blacks’ June series against Wales.

Barrett told reporters the decision to renew with the Wellington-based club was a no-brainer.

He was loving rugby across all levels of the game and was keen to sign on for more.

“It’s great to get things across the line,” Barrett said.

“It was clear in my mind right from the start, although there was some speculation.

“It’s where I want to be.”
