Rebels players face stamping charges

Two Melbourne Rebels players have been cited for stamping following their 20-10 upset of the Crusaders in the first game of the Super Rugby season.

Halfback Nic Stirzaker and No.8 Scott Higginbotham, the Rebels captain, must answer to the SANZAR judiciary after incidents spotted by the match citing commissioner.

Stirzaker was shown a yellow card by referee Nick Briant for his third-minute footwork which appeared to make contact with prone Crusaders flanker Richie McCaw.

The Higginbotham incident in the 50th minute wasn’t seen by the on-field officials at AAMI Park.
