David Pocock could become the latest Wallaby to join French rugby after reportedly being offered big money by Top 14 club Bordeaux.

Pocock, whose Super Rugby contract with the Brumbies ends in 2016, could earn more than $450,000 a season if he signs with Bordeaux, while Toulouse and Racing 92 are also interested in the Australian No.8, according to French publication Midi Olympique.

Pocock was Australia’s best player in the recent rugby World Cup, and he will likely pass the 60-Test mark in 2016, which would allow him to represent the Wallabies while playing overseas.

If Pocock was to defect to Bordeaux, he would join Adam Ashley-Cooper at the club, while Matt Giteau, Drew Mitchell and Quade Cooper play for Toulon.

Pocock hinted he may be interested in leaving Super Rugby when he only signed a single-year contract extension with the Brumbies in August.

“I tried to be pretty upfront and honest during negotiations; that I feel like I can fully commit to next year,” he told Fairfax Media at the time.

“But I’d be lying at this stage if I said I wanted to sign a two or three-year deal and I can fully commit to those years.”
