Wallabies hooker Stephen Moore says star Brumbies signing David Pocock will be as influential in Canberra as he is for the national team.

Moore said the Pocock signing was credit to what the resurgent Brumbies achieved this year under new coach Jake White, claiming the Super Rugby franchise couldn’t have pulled off such a coup 12 months ago.

Pocock is widely regarded as Richie McCaw’s successor as the premier No.7 in world rugby, and Moore said the Western Force recruit will make an enormous difference in the nation’s capital.

“(He’ll make) a similar difference to what he makes to the Wallabies,” said Moore.

“Any team he’s in is very, very competitive. His work at the breakdown is first class, his presence on the field, the way he plays, speaks volumes for his leadership and I think he’ll bring an enormous amount to the team.

“To the credit of everyone involved at the Brumbies, it’s turned around now to being a place where people see the rugby program as somewhere where you can really improve your rugby.

“He’s only 24 and he’s still got a lot of improvement in his game and I think the Brumbies is going to be a great place for him to achieve that.”

Moore believes Pocock’s defection is a good chance for the Force to start from scratch under new coach Michael Foley and build a new culture – similar to what the underdog Brumbies did under White in 2012, narrowly missing out on the finals.

On the turmoil being experienced by the Waratahs following Foley’s departure, Moore said it was important for NSW players to not get too caught up in the drama.

Moore went through similar rumblings at the Brumbies last year and said finding stability is the only way to rebuild.
