Utility back Jono Lance has been summoned to join the NSW Waratahs in South Africa after winger Rob Horne was suspended.

Lance was to fly out on Monday ahead of the defending champions’ remaining tour match against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

Horne was banned for three matches for a lifting tackle during the weekend loss to the Lions in Johannesburg, joining lock Will Skelton and hooker Tolu Latu under suspension for dangerous tackles.

Peter Betham is expected to come into the starting side in place of Horne.

The Waratahs cannot afford to slip up against the struggling Cheetahs as they are tied on points with the Brumbies in top spot in the Australian conference with two rounds to go.
