Injured Hunt to miss Hurricanes clash

Queensland Reds recruit Karmichael Hunt’s stop-start Super Rugby campaign has copped another setback with the code-hopper ruled out of Sunday’s home clash with the Hurricanes.

Hunt (adductor) is one of two injury-enforced changes to the Reds line-up, with Curtis Browning (knee) also ruled out.

Hunt’s injury means Lachie Turner will shift from wing to fullback, Chris Feauai-Sautia goes from outside centre to winger and Anthony Fainga’a comes into the starting team at inside centre.

Adam Korczyk will make his first run-on appearance for the Reds at blindside flanker in place of Browning, just two weeks after debuting against the Bulls in Pretoria.

Reds coach Richard Graham has made two other changes from the Reds lineup which beat the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein last weekend.

Hooker Andrew Ready and Lolo Fakaosilea have been named on the bench with both to make their Super Rugby debuts if they come on.

“Curtis suffered a pretty ordinary knee injury early in the Cheetahs match,” Graham said.

“He is having exploratory surgery today to determine what the extent of the injury is.

“Karmichael is a victim of his own high standards. He has done a lot of work on the field in the past few weeks to improve all aspects of his game and as a consequence the load with games and travel was too much.”

Reds: Lachie Turner, Chris Feauai-Sautia, Samu Kerevi, Anthony Fainga’a, James O’Connor, Nick Frisby, Will Genia, Adam Thomson, Liam Gill, Adam Korczyk, James Horwill, Rob Simmons, Greg Holmes, James Hanson, James Slipper (capt). Reserves: Andrew Ready, Sef Faagase, Sam Talakai, Marco Kotze, Lolo Fakaosilea, Scott Gale, Campbell Magnay, Chris Kuridrani.
