Carter, Fardy re-sign with Wallabies

Key Wallabies and Brumbies forwards Sam Carter and Scott Fardy have signed two-year contract extensions with the Australian Rugby Union, keeping them in Australia until at least the end of 2017.

The pair have combined for 31 Test appearances, with Carter winning the 2014 Wallabies rookie of the year award.

“It was a really enjoyable experience being part of the Wallabies program last year, and one I’ll continue to work hard towards being part of in the future,” said Carter, a 25-year-old lock forward.

“Right now, we’re in the middle of a really important campaign with the Brumbies, but I’ll be putting my best foot forward to hopefully push my way into Test selection later in the year.”

Fardy said there was plenty to look forward to for the Wallabies at this years Rugby World Cup and beyond.

“Being part of a Rugby World Cup is obviously a huge milestone all players in Australia want to be part of, and I think that will bring the best out of most players throughout the year,” he said in a statement.

Fardy, 30, has played 20 Tests since making his debut against the All Blacks in 2013.
