Brumbies’ Speight suspended for 5 weeks

Wallabies and Brumbies winger Henry Speight will miss the rest of the Super Rugby finals and the opening two Test matches after being suspended for five weeks.

SANZAR announced the penalty on Wednesday after earlier finding Speight guilty of a dangerous lifting tackle on Stormers centre Juan de Jongh in his side’s qualifying final win in Cape Town on Saturday.

He has been ruled out of the Brumbies’ Super Rugby semi-final against the Hurricanes in Wellington on Saturday and also the final the following week if they win, plus the Rugby Championship Tests against South Africa in Brisbane on July 18 and against Argentina in Mendoza on July 25.
