Respol Honda Gift Lorenzo First Win of The Season

It was a host of unfamiliar faces on the rostrum at Aragon in the Moto GP class as the awkward weather conditions re surfaced to blow the race wide open and Lorenzo was able to take his first race victory for 2014. In the last 15 minutes the lead changed 6 times, with riders falling off, changing bikes, it had it all.

Lorenzo changed for a wet bike setup after it started to rain halfway through the race. It proved to be the right move as Marquez and Pedrosa both decided to push on with tires for dry surfaces, only for both to fall within 2 minutes of each other and finish just inside of the points.

Valentino Rossi was unable to finish the race but has been cleared of serious injury after crashing out in the early laps. Battling for 3rd position with Pedrosa, Rossi ran wide, where he was thrown off his bike and knocked out unconscious. “ The Doctor” was taken to hospital for precautionary reasons and how now been discharged.

The NGM Forward racing team made it a historical day in Moto GP with an Open class bike making it on the podium for the first time. Aleix Espargaro was the first to enter the pits as conditions changed and he was rewarded, the NGM Forward racing rider finishing 2nd just beating Ducati’s Cal Crutchlow to the line.

The Brit who will be joining LCR Honda in 2015 was over the moon with his first podium of 2014. The Ducati rider has been one to master wet conditions in the past and with the fortune of both Repsol Honda riders coming off with laps left he was able to get the podium.

With four races left, Marquez has a commanding 75-point lead and it will virtually take a miracle for someone to stop him from going back to back. Lets see what happens in Motegi, can Yamaha make it 3 in a row?
