Widdop no certainty for Dogs clash

St George Illawarra playmaker Gareth Widdop is only a 50/50 proposition to play in the Dragons’ elimination final against Canterbury on Saturday.

Widdop missed the Dragons win over Wests Tigers last weekend with a quad injury.

Dragons skipper Ben Creagh said at the NRL finals launch at the SCG on Monday that Widdop was no certainty to take the field against the Dogs in the joint venture’s first finals game since 2011.

However the Dragons are set to welcome back Joel Thompson from a leg injury and Dylan Farrell from a back complaint.

Fullback Brett Morris missed Canterbury’s unimpressive final round win over the Warriors with a leg injury.

But he too will be fit for the sudden death clash at ANZ Stadium.
