Whare set to miss rest of NRL season

Penrith centre Dean Whare is expected to be ruled out for the season on Thursday with a knee injury.

Whare, who was due to return against Canberra on Saturday from a calf injury in the opening round of the season, suffered a suspected torn anterior cruciate ligament at training on Wednesday.

The New Zealand representative will have scans on Thursday, however the club have already confirmed they are expecting the worst.
