Warriors unchanged against Souths

The Warriors will take an unchanged side for the long haul to Perth to face South Sydney on Saturday night.

The same 17 players who featured in the 38-18 win over Newcastle at Mt Smart Stadium on Sunday will be on the plane on Wednesday.

Coach Andrew McFadden has also added utility Tuimoala Lolohea and prop Charlie Gubb to an extended six-man bench.

With the journey from Auckland to Perth being the longest in the NRL, the Warriors are leaving a day earlier than usually for a game in Australia.

“It’s a big trip for us going to Perth,” McFadden said.

“But as we discussed, we just need to enjoy the time together and focus on the performance and hopefully we’ll get the right result.”

The win over the Knights was the Warriors’ fourth in their past five matches and put them 12th.

But on a congested table, they are just two points behind the Rabbitohs in fourth place.

Warriors: Sam Tomkins, David Fusitua, Konrad Hurrell, Ngani Laumape, Manu Vatuvei, Chad Townsend, Shaun Johnson, Jacob Lillyman, Nathan Friend, Suaia Matagi, Jayson Bukuya, Ben Matulino, Simon Mannering (capt). Interchange: (from) Siliva Havili, Sam Rapira, Feleti Mateo, Sebastine Ikahihifo, Tuimoala Lolohea, Charlie Gubb.
