Warriors’ Lillyman faces cheekbone surgery

Prop Jacob Lillyman will undergo surgery this week after confirmation he suffered a broken cheekbone in the Warriors’ 50-16 NRL loss to North Queensland.

Lillyman was injured as he made a hit-up in the game’s opening play in Auckland on Saturday night and took no further part in the game.

He will be the third senior Warrior to have a season-ending operation over the past month after halfback Shaun Johnson (ankle) and wing Manu Vatuvei (shoulder).

Lillyman’s unavailability means the club will be without their two front-line props for the trip to take on Wests Tigers next weekend, with Ben Matulino still suspended.
