Warriors forward cops three-match NRL ban

The NRL judiciary has handed down its second suspension in 24 hours, with New Zealand Warriors forward Sione Lousi failing in his bid to have the grading of his dangerous throw charge downgraded.

He will miss three matches after the scary incident when Wests Tigers backrower Cory Paterson landed on his head in a tackle during last Saturday’s match at Eden Park in Auckland.

The incident occurred in the 11th minute of the Warriors’ 42-18 win and after receiving treatment, Paterson was taken from the field and didn’t return.

Lousi will be eligible to return for the Warriors on Anzac Day in their traditional match against Melbourne at AAMI Park.

Kiwi international Jared Waerea-Hargreaves won’t play for the Sydney Roosters against Canterbury on Friday night after taking the early guilty plea for a tackle which knocked out Manly’s Glenn Stewart last week.

And Melbourne’s Sisa Waqa is free to play against the Gold Coast this weekend after taking the early guilty plea on a careless high tackle charge on the Bulldogs’ Sam Perrett.

This week’s judiciary hearing was postponed for a day to allow the panel to hear the case of Melbourne’s Jordan McLean concerning the dangerous throw which resulted in Newcastle forward Alex McKinnon suffering a broken neck.

McLean was suspended for seven weeks on Wednesday night, but he and the Storm have indicated they are considering an appeal.
