Titans release White to Melbourne

Gold Coast front-rower Matthew White has been granted an early release to join Melbourne for their 2016 NRL campaign.

White, who has overcome a serious knee injury in his time at the Titans, has made 123 appearances since joining the club from Newcastle in 2009.

Sunday’s clash with St George Illawarra will be the final home appearance with the Titans for White, along with several other players including fellow prop Nate Myles.

The 31-year-old says he leaves the Titans with happy memories of his seven-year stay.

“I feel privileged to have played over 120 games for the Titans with a great bunch of blokes but I’m excited about a new challenge next year,” he said on Tuesday.

“I’d like to thank them, the fans and the coaches I’ve had in John Cartwright and Neil Henry and their coaching staff.

“I still have some goals left to achieve including playing finals footy again. It’s been a while and hopefully I get to do that with the Storm next season.”
