Titans’ NRL recruit continues big week

Fair to say it’s been a big week for Gold Coast NRL recruit Kierran Moseley.

A day after his shock selection in the Indigenous AllStars team for next month’s clash with the NRL AllStars, the 20-year-old has earned a spot in the Titans’ squad for the Auckland Nines tournament.

Moseley is one of five newcomers named by coach Neil Henry in his squad for the January 31-February 1 pre-season tournament.

Joining Moseley in their first competitive outing for the Titans will be Lachlan Burr, Josh Hoffman, Matt Robinson and Davin Crampton.

“I wouldn’t have ever pictured it,” said former Penrith playmaker Moseley.

“To be picked in the Indigenous team and then this, it’s been a good week. A good start to the season.”

The Titans left out representative pair Greg Bird and Nate Myles as both continue their recoveries from surgery while flyer Kevin Gordon was also omitted from the Nines squad as he builds up his fitness.

The Titans went for a blend of speed and power with their squad, picking Will Zillman, James Roberts and David Mead alongside big forwards Luke Douglas, Mark Ioane and Ryan James.

Moseley will be asked to provide the creative spark along with first-choice halves pairing Aidan Sezer and Daniel Mortimer.

The Titans only won one of their three matches at last year’s inaugural Nines tournament, failing to get to the quarter-finals.

They have been drawn against the Warriors, Wests Tigers and Canberra in their group at this year’s tournament.

Titans Nines squad: Will Zillman, James Roberts, Anthony Don, David Mead, Josh Hoffman, Brad Tighe, Kalifa Faifai Loa, Aidan Sezer, Daniel Mortimer, Christian Hazard, Kierran Moseley, Ryan James, Mark Ioane, Luke Douglas, Lachlan Burr, Davin Crampton, Dave Taylor, Matt Robinson.
