Sutton to miss 16 weeks

South Sydney will be without forward John Sutton for four months after it was confirmed he had ruptured a pectoral muscle.

Sutton will be unavailable until round 17 for the Rabbitohs after coming from the field late in their 42-10 win over arch-rivals the Sydney Roosters, while Souths remain unsure how many NRL games halfback Adam Reynolds will miss with an injured jaw.

The star halfback will undergo further scans on Monday, however early indications were that he could miss anywhere between six weeks and four months.

Regular five-eighth Luke Keary will likely return from suspension to replace him for Saturday night’s clash with Newcastle, partnering with Cody Walker in the halves.

Walker looked comfortable on his NRL debut laying on an early try and combining well with Reynolds, impressing coach Michael Maguire.

“He was good Cody and with the changes on the field, he just adapted,” Maguire said.

“It is just the practice he has shown throughout the season and it has shown on the field.”
