Storm ready to fire in NRL finals: Cronk

Halfback Cooper Cronk says it’s high-time for Melbourne Storm to overturn a poor recent record in the NRL playoffs, starting with Friday night’s qualifying final against the red-hot Sydney Roosters.

The Storm were knocked straight out of the 2013 and 2014 playoffs, with their last finals victory coming in the 2012 grand final against Canterbury.

Cronk acknowledged the Storm were lucky to finish fourth and earn the double chance this year after Manly upset Cronulla in the final round of the home-and-away season.

“It’s been really disappointing that Melbourne Storm haven’t won a final for a period of time,” Cronk said on Tuesday.

“Hopefully we can turn that around and take advantage of the opportunity this weekend.”
