Souths winger Tuqiri cops one-game NRL ban

South Sydney’s Lote Tuqiri will miss Monday night’s clash with Canberra after accepting a one-match NRL ban for a crusher tackle on Parramatta star Jarryd Hayne.

The Rabbitohs winger took the early guilty plea to a grade-two dangerous contact charge arising from the 22nd-minute incident in his side’s win over the Eels on Friday.

He risked a two-week suspension if he unsuccessfully fought the charge.

The Eels’ Joseph Paulo will be free to play this weekend, as will Penrith’s Sika Manu, the Warriors’ Manu Vatuvei and Wests Tigers’ Austin Blake, after all pleaded guilty to grade-one careless high tackle charges.

Canterbury halves Trent Hodkinson (dangerous throw) and Josh Jackson (tripping), as well as winger Corey Thompson (dangerous throw) have also escaped bans after each accepted their grade-one citations.
