Souths’ Carter banned for one NRL match

South Sydney back-rower Paul Carter is set to miss a week after being charged with dangerous contact by the NRL match review committee.

Carter has been hit with a grade-one citation for taking out the legs of Corey Norman as the Eels’ playmaker kicked during Parramatta’s 30-12 win on Friday night at ANZ Stadium.

Carter was not penalised for the 47th-minute incident however was subsequently charged.

He will miss next week’s clash with Penrith unless he fights it at the judiciary.

Meanwhile, Eels centre Vai Toutai will be free to play next week despite being charged with a grade-one careless high tackle for a shot that left John Sutton with a bloody nose.
