Slater set to join Kangaroos withdrawals

The Kangaroos Four Nations squad is set to be filled with a host of international rookies due to a number of high profile withdrawals.

Melbourne fullback Billy Slater is likely to be the latest big name to pull out of the Australian squad for the tournament starting on October 25 in Brisbane against New Zealand.

Paul Gallen, Nate Myles and Darius Boyd are other high profile outs, with talk that Brett Morris (shoulder), Josh Morris (knee) and Josh Dugan (leg) could also be forced to miss the end of season event due to injury.

Slater’s withdrawal will open the door for Jarryd Hayne or Greg Inglis to fill the green and gold No.1 jersey, with strong speculation Slater could have played his last Test.

South Sydney stars Dylan Walker and Alex Johnston, Sydney Roosters back-rower Aidan Guerra and teammate Daniel Tupou and Brisbane’s Josh McGuire and Ben Hunt are among the Australia rookies fighting for inclusion into Tim Sheens’ Four Nations outfit.
