Sharks’ Lewis gone for NRL season

Cronulla back-rower Luke Lewis is the latest Shark to have played his last NRL game of the season after suffering a hamstring injury in Saturday’s loss to Parramatta.

Lewis will join fellow back-rower Wade Graham (foot) and Jacob Gagan (hamstring) on the sideline for the remainder of the year after the trio all sustained injuries against the Eels.

Cronulla have been hit by a slew of injuries throughout the year, contributing somewhat to their place at the foot of the NRL ladder.

The Sharks currently have 10 senior players out injured.

But in some good news for the battling Shire-based side as they seek to avoid the dreaded wooden spoon, captain Paul Gallen has been named to make his return from a biceps injury against the in-form Warriors in round 22 in Auckland on Sunday.
