Parramatta’s rejuvenation under Brad Arthur has continued with a 14-12 win over premiers Sydney Roosters in an absorbing encounter at Parramatta Stadium.

The last time these sides met a month ago the Roosters scored 40 unanswered second-half points on their way to a 56-4 humiliation of Arthur’s side.

But since that humbling at Allianz Stadium the Eels have bounced back well and dominated the premiers for much of the game to chalk up a memorable win and make it three straight victories for the first time since 2010.

Almost inevitably it was Jarryd Hayne who led from the from the front for the Eels and he produced a stunning piece of defending to hold up Sonny Bill Williams centimetres from the line two minutes from time, the final siren sending the 15,312 crowd into delirium.

Semi Radradra’s ninth try in six games was the only score in the second half in a breathless encounter that saw the Eels denied twice by the video referee as the Roosters slumped to their fourth loss of the campaign.

An entertaining first half saw both sides cross for tries with Ken Sio opening the scoring in the seventh minute when he hauled in a superb Hayne cut-out pass to touch down one handed.

However, the Eels’ lead was short-lived with prop Sam Moa restoring parity by bulldozing his way over the line from close range allowing James Maloney to kick the extra points from in front of the posts.

Sio added his second thanks to a moment of brilliance from Chris Sandow who noticed winger Daniel Tupou was out of position and chip-kicked into the arms of the winger.

Former Eels junior Tupou more than atoned for that error on the stroke of halftime when he skipped past a Sandow tackle and used his giant frame to hurdle over Hayne and Nathan Peats, racing 80 metres to the line.
