Veteran backrower Corey Parker will be named as NRL club Brisbane’s next captain on Friday.
A press conference will be held at 1130 AEDT to confirm the appointment of Parker.
Coach Wayne Bennett said in January that he knew who would replace retired great Justin Hodges as skipper but would not reveal it until before the NRL season kick-off.
Parker had shared the captaincy reins previously with Hodges in 2014 under former Brisbane coach Anthony Griffin.
However, Hodges was installed as sole skipper when Bennett returned to Brisbane in 2015.
Brisbane – last year’s NRL runners-up – kick off their season away to Parramatta on March 3.
