Panthers re-sign Moylan, Cartwright

Penrith have locked in two of their brightest young talents for upcoming NRL seasons, re-signing Matt Moylan and Bryce Cartwright.

The Panthers on Tuesday announced an extension to Moylan’s contract until the end of 2017, while Cartwright will stay at the foot of the mountains through to 2018.

Moylan has been pivotal in securing his side a top-four finish, kicking the match-winner in a number of matches this year.

“We’ve got a good team here at the moment,” the 23-year-old said.

“All the boys are great and (coach) Ivan (Cleary) is an outstanding leader and I’m excited to see where we can take this club in the future.”

Cartwright will miss the finals due to an ankle injury but was excited to stay at the Panthers.

“Penrith is where I started my footy career and it’s definitely where I want to stay and develop it over the next few years,” he said.

General manager of rugby league, Phil Moss, labelled the pair among the NRL’s best young talents and was delighted to have them agree to stay on.

“They are both part of the club’s plans for the future,” he said.

The Panthers will meet minor premiers the Sydney Roosters in their first qualifying final at Allianz Stadium on Saturday.
