Origin’s Reynolds, Bird, Te’o cop NRL bans

Josh Reynolds will miss three NRL games for Canterbury after pleading guilty to a grade-two shoulder charge during Wednesday’s State of Origin III.

NSW five-eighth Reynolds was placed on report for a challenge on Queensland winger Will Chambers in the first half of the Maroons’ 32-8 win in Brisbane.

His Blues teammate Greg Bird will miss two games for a grade-one lifting tackle on fellow Gold Coast forward Nate Myles.

Bird, who expressed his frustration at the decision after the match, claiming rules should be different in Origin, will sit out the Titans’ encounters with Canberra and Newcastle.

Myles was also charged with dangerous contact with the forearm after catching Bird across the throat midway through the second half when he was running the ball back.

However, he has pleaded guilty and will be free to face the Raiders at Cbus Super Stadium on Sunday.

South Sydney’s Ben Te’o will also miss a game after being slugged with a grade-one charge of dangerous contact with the kicker.

Te’o took out NSW halfback Trent Hodkinson in the first half of the game and will sit out South Sydney’s round-19 clash with Parramatta.
