NRL refuse to budge on Hopoate

The NRL says it will not back down on their refusal to register former rugby league bad boy John Hopoate as a Manly junior coach, declaring the issue closed.

The governing body is preparing a breach notice that will threaten the Sea Eagles with a $30,000 fine and the loss of competition points if Hopoate continues to coach their under-18 side.

NRL head of football Todd Greenberg said on Tuesday it would not budge after the Integrity Unit received advice from the NSW police organised crime squad that Hopoate was not fit for the role.
