Nikorima set to step up as Brisbane rake

Kodi Nikorima is poised to step up in the absence of injured Brisbane hooker Andrew McCullough after impressing at training on Tuesday.

Regular bench utility Nikorima looks set to get the nod as starting rake ahead of Travis Waddell for Sunday’s NRL clash at Cronulla after McCullough (hamstring) was sidelined for six weeks.

Former Canberra and Newcastle hooker Waddell may make his Broncos debut off the bench in his second year at the NRL club.

The jury is out on the availability of back-rower Alex Glenn (hip) who trained away from the main group on Tuesday after missing last week’s win over South Sydney.
