Morris refreshed by life at the Bulldogs

Brett Morris admits his move to Canterbury from St George Illawarra has re-energised his career.

Morris joined the Bulldogs from St George Illawarra at the end of last year to play at fullback alongside twin brother Josh Morris.

Despite having nine seasons of NRL experience behind him, the 28-year-old admitted he was nervous about changing his environment having debuted for the Dragons in 2006.

“I was there at the Dragons for a long time,” Morris said.

“When you come to a new club there are new faces, new training, it has been very refreshing having to learn all over again. That is what I have really enjoyed.”

Morris played at fullback earlier in his career with the Dragons but was used predominantly a winger, which is also where he has played for NSW and Australia.

He made a try-scoring debut in the No.1 shirt against Penrith last Sunday and said he’s relishing the challenge of working under Des Hasler and re-adjusting to the position.

“I came here with a very open mind, I wasn’t sure what position I was going to play,” he said.

“When he (Hasler) mentioned to me in the pre-season that there was a chance of playing fullback I just trained as hard as I could as it’s a key position in the team.

“The role of fullback has changed, they are like halfbacks now creating opportunities for outside backs.

“There is a lot more ball-playing involved and a lot more things you have to do.

“It’s something I am really enjoying.
