Monday night will suit Raiders: Williams

Their NRL record on Monday nights and at home isn’t great, but halfback Sam Williams reckons Canberra will have the wood over Wests Tigers when they meet early next week.

The Raiders lost both of their Monday fixtures at GIO Stadium last year, and have only won twice in nine matches at home this season.

“The big difference about this Monday, it’s a night game, it’s going to be fairly cold and it suits us,” Williams said on Friday.

“We’re here today, it’s fairly fresh at the moment – I’m sure they’re not training in that.”

The Tigers haven’t got a favourable recent record on Monday nights either, claiming just two wins of 12 matches since 2012.

It’s even worse when away, with just one win from 10 on the road.

A victory for the 10th-placed Raiders could pitch them back into the top eight, while a loss could see them four points adrift of a finals berth.
