Parramatta forward Manu Ma’u has opted to fight a dangerous throw charge at the NRL judiciary.
He faces a one-match ban for his tackle on Gold Coast playmaker Ashley Taylor in last round’s 34-14 loss to the Titans.
He will miss the beleaguered Eels’ derby clash with Wests Tigers on Saturday unless he successfully contests the charge.
South Sydney forward Tom Burgess is facing suspension for a shoulder charge in his team’s 20-12 loss to Manly on Monday night.
Burgess was handed a grade one charge by the match review panel on Tuesday for a hit on Manly playmaker Daly Cherry-Evans in the 77th minute at Allianz Stadium.
He will miss one match with an early guilty plea and risks a two-match ban if he contests the charge.
In other judiciary news, Dragons prop Leeson Ah Mau has been banned for three weeks for his high shot that forced Wests Tigers’ Tim Grant off the field in a neck brace.
Ah Mau entered an early plea for his grade three careless high tackle in Wests Tigers’ 25-12 NRL win over the Dragons at ANZ Stadium on Sunday.
Newcastle forward Mitchell Barnett will miss two games for his second half shoulder charge on Cronulla’s Andrew Fifita in the Knights’ 36-4 loss on Sunday after an early plea.
Wests Tigers’ Sauaso Sue and the Warriors’ Bunty Afoa both escaped bans with early pleas to their respective grade one dangerous contact charges.
