Mark O’Neill stood down at Tigers: report

Former Wests Tigers captain Mark O’Neill has reportedly been stood down as the NRL club’s football manager, pending an independent investigation.

The club confirmed on Sunday that they were looking into alleged misconduct by a staff member, according to Fairfax Media.

“The board has instructed an independent investigation to be carried out,” chairperson Marina Go said.

O’Neill played 102 games for Balmain after debuting for the club in 1994, before adding another 121 to his tally with the merged club from 2000.

He was appointed to the high-ranking off-field role in March, but was a notable absentee at the club’s recent awards night.
