Lewis not holding breath for NSW recall

Discarded NSW State of Origin utility Luke Lewis says he’s not holding his breath waiting for a Blues recall, but he will never retire from representative football.

Lewis wasn’t selected by Laurie Daley for the opening game against Queensland last month, the coach telling the Cronulla veteran he was going in a different direction.

“I got a phone call off `Loz’ (Daley), he gave me a heads up of what he wanted to do and I’m all for it,” Lewis said on Wednesday.

“I’m a pretty proud New South Wales person. I sat down on the lounge and was hoping they would get across the line. It was a tough game.

“But I can’t see the team changing too much.”
